Dr. Shelly draws upon Feminist, Systems, and Emotionally-Focused perspectives to guide the therapeutic process. Within her approach is a focus on social influences, relational patterns, and a focus on emotional exploration as it relates to what the client brings into therapy. They believe in setting collaborative goals with the client to ensure the client is heard and working towards the goals they want for their life. They focus on the strengths that each client brings to therapy to build upon those strengths.

Dr. Shelly values collaboration and diversity of experiences within therapy. As such, they strive to equalize power within the therapeutic relationship and explore how diverse experiences shape the process of therapy.
