Recently, we’ve had clients seeking counseling services with our Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs), who are active within various well-known networks. However, we could not provide counseling services because of their Medicare policy status.
Suppose you seek our counseling services, and your plan falls under any Medicare plans or associations with these networks. In that case, unfortunately, we will not be able to use your coverage.
According to Medicare:
- LPCs are not eligible providers within their network. They only accept medical doctors, nurse practitioners, psychologists, and licensed clinical social workers.
- Claims for your sessions are processed and handled by Medicare, even though your primary coverage company provides a policy that we qualify. For example, a coverage policy under United Healthcare with a Medicare plan.
This matter is for all cases regarding any plans associated with Medicare. Clients can choose to initiate an appeals process with their coverage provider, seek a list of eligible providers for counseling services, or pay out-of-pocket for sessions. Additionally, our agency does not correspond with Medicare as we are not active nor suitable with either network. Single case agreements are not an option with our mental health providers also.
